Babies grow so fast, it doesn’t make any sense to spend hundreds of dollars on clothes that they’ll wear once, twice, or maybe even never. But that’s no reason to give up the joys of buying your little buddle an adorable, new wardrobe. There’s plenty of stores that are great to buy inexpensive baby clothes without sacrificing quality or style!
To dress your newest family member in stylish clothes without breaking the bank, you’ve got to know the best places to shop — and I’ve already done the searching for you! I’ve come up with a list of my favorite stores that carry inexpensive baby clothes and great deals so you can buy your baby all the cutest clothes without any regrets.
Old Navy
When anyone asks me where to look for baby clothes, Old Navy is always one of the first places I tell them. For both boys and girls, Old Navy has an awesome selection of quality affordable clothes. Most of their stuff is plain colors, patterns, and simple graphics — nothing too over the top that screams “baby clothes” at you. Plus, they do sales so often, you can easily get stuff for 50% off.
H&M
H&M is known for its basics and classic styles and their baby clothes are no different. I love when baby’s clothes aren’t covered in characters and “cutesy patterns” and H&M doesn’t do any of that. I feel like a lot of their clothes look like shrunken down adult clothes. They are a little pricier than other stores on this list, but you can still find pieces for under $10.
Carter’s & Osh-Kosh
When you first go into a Carter’s/Osh-Kosh store, you may be shocked by their price tags, but don’t worry! I’ve never paid full price for an item in this store. You need to check out their huge clearance section and sign up for their emails. You’ll easily find deals for 50-90% off! They’re a great place for all sorts of clothes, especially for baby boys. The Osh-Kosh brand has such classic, insanely high-quality pieces that I seriously love.
Amazon
Of course, Amazon is one of my go-to places for inexpensive baby clothes. Not only do they have more of a selection than anywhere else, but you can also find really unique pieces. They’re usually not as good of a deal on the big brands like Carter’s, but the two-day free shipping makes it worth it.
TJ Maxx & Marshalls
Some of my favorite places to look for baby clothes is TJ Maxx and Marshalls because you never know what you’re going to find. They carry everything from Carter’s to “boutique-type brands.” I’ve found some amazing deals on designer brands that saved me 70% or more. Sadly (for me, since I’m having a boy) these stores almost always have more clothing for baby girls than boys. And also, if you didn’t know, you can shop TJ Maxx online!
Zulily
If you’re unfamiliar with this site, it’s a flash-sale site that has new items every day. Their prices on actual clothing like onesies or pjs are great, but I think the best deals are on shoes and bigger-ticket items like winter jackets. They’re also a really good place to find discounted baby gear, nursery decor and essentials like wipes and bottles.
Burlington Coat Factory
I don’t have a Burlington locally, but if you do, check them out! Their prices are usually in-line with TJ Maxx and Marshall’s and you can get some high-quality stuff. You might even want to check online to see what they’ve got, but their online selection is usually pretty small.
Gordman’s
A very similar store to Burlington — Gordman’s carries a whole bunch of baby clothes for very cheap. I never used to go to this store, but now I do all the time that I’m having a baby! Not only is their children’s clothing selection great, but you can usually find some unique pieces for a nursery, too.
Target
Personally, I think Target is hit or miss when it comes to their baby clothing. (But their toddler section is much better!) A lot of their stuff isn’t my taste, but that isn’t to say they don’t have great deals! You can get sets of onesies or zipper pj’s for a really good price. I suggest looking online because their in-store selections aren’t very big.
Walmart
Walmart has really stepped up their clothing recently. I used to not be a fan of their baby clothes, but their newish Wonder Nation brand is super cute. They also have their inexpensive brand, Garanimals, which is so good for basics. Everything like t-shirts, sweats, jeans, and basic onesies is no more than $4 a piece. That’s usually where I start when Leo is ready for the next size because it’s so cheap to stock up.
Consignment & second-hand stores
Although not a specific store, consignment shops and second-hand stores that only sell baby/children’s clothing are a godsend. You can find some incredibly killer deals at stores like these. If you’re like I was, you might have this idea that these stores wouldn’t “meet your high standards for a delicate, new baby.” But you have to realize that babies hardly ever wear all their clothes since they grow out of sizes so fast. So many items in these stores have only been worn once or still have tags on them! These stores are also much pickier about the items they sell, so unlike traditional thrift stores, you’re gonna find nicer stuff. You just have to do a little googling and you’ll find stores that are local to you.
Buying baby clothes is no doubt, one of the most exciting parts about prepping for a new baby. Everything is so cute and little, and surprisingly, not as expensive as you’d think.
Is there a store I’m forgetting about? I’m sure there are some hidden gems out there. Comment below your favorite place to buy baby clothes!
