Bath time with a toddler has become… challenging to say the least. Leo loved taking baths for the first 2.5 years of his life. But now, it’s turn into a whole charade just to get him to put a foot in the water. I’ve had to become creative with ways to make bath time more fun so we can actually get him clean. Our daughter, Ellie, on the other hand. She’ll sit in the tub all day.
I’ve combined a list of our favorite bath products to wash and entertain our toddlers. It’s a short list, but I’m keeping things simple today 🙂
Favorite bath toys
Crayola bath dropz: Sometimes these are the only things that will get Leo in the tub. I ask him what color he wants his water to be and he immediately forgets that he was screaming about getting in. It also helps him learn how colors mix to make new colors.
Munchkin falls cups: Kids love pouring water, that’s a fact. Since these suction cup onto the wall, more water stays in the tub.
Stacking cups: These weren’t designed to be bath toys but that’s where they ended up. You can make so many games with pouring water that these work great.
Foam letters: A classic bath toy. We don’t yet spell too much with them, but they’re fun to stick all over the wall, or chew on for our one year old.
Submarine: Green Toys is one of my favorite toys brands. The submarine is durable and perfect to splash around.
Bath toy bin (similar): Our exact one was from Target’s Pillowfort line but it looks like it’s no longer sold. I love this thing because it sticks to the wall and has never fallen off. It’s much better than a mesh storage bag because those can get moldy and gross.
Favorite bath accessories
Rinse cup: This has been a staple for the last three years. Leo swears he’s being waterboarded when we rinse his hair, and this at least makes the process a little easier. Despite that, it’s his favorite cup to pour with, too.
Wash cloths: We have these in grey and pink and they’ve all held up so well through the many washes and abuse they get. They’re super soft and the perfect size for little bodies.
Kneeling pad: I may be 27 but I have the knees of a 70 year old, and this thing is a life saver.
Favorite bath beauty products
Bubble bath: Hands down the best for making lots of bubbles and I love the smell. We don’t always use bubbles, but these come in handy on the nights we need an extra negotiation tool to get Leo in the tub.
Shampoo/soap: Same brand and scent as the bubble bath. The coconut strawberry smell is so nice.
Lotion: You can’t go wrong with Aveeno baby lotion. I prefer fragrance free when choosing a lotion so it doesn’t sit on their skin for too long.
Hair detangler: We don’t use this a whole lot since neither kid has long hair. But sometimes Leo gets frizzy bedhead just on the back of his head and this prevents it from happening.
